Sensory Friendly shows will be the first show of the day on select weekends at Cinema Cafes' Greenbrier Mall (Chesapeake) location. Films and dates will be announced as the information becomes available. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday the week of each event; a link will be posted on their site.
What does "Sensory Friendly" mean?
The volume will be lowered and the lights will be kept on a dim-dark setting throughout the movie. This becomes a safe space where our guest are free to express themselves by signing, crying, dancing, walking around, talking or shouting - whatever they need to do to feel comfortable an enjoy the movie-going experience.
Why "Sensory Friendly" shows?
Movies sometimes have drastic changes in light and sounds. These kinds of disturbance can set off outbursts and episodes in people with sensory sensitivities. We want to ask our guests to sit back, relax and enjoy the latest movies in a comfortable setting that meets their needs. Sensory Friendly show are an oportunity for sensory friendly guests and their families to get the movie theater experience that's been so elusive for so long, with the added bonus of the dining option available at all Cinema Cafe locations.
When are these shows available?
Sensory Friendly Shows occur as Cinema Cafe has family-friendly movies to offer. We encourage you to check our website for the upcoming schedules or sign up for our e-Newsletter. Sensory Friendly show announcements will also be posted on the Cinema Cafes' social media channels.
