Welcome to the Autism Society Tidewater Virginia. We hope you find useful information on this channel. Formed in 1981, we are a grassroots organization with ties in the Tidewater Virginia Region and beyond, to include the Peninsula.

This chapter of the Autism Society of America, was established to help improve the lives of all affected by Autism in Hampton Roads and does this by increasing public awareness, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across their lifespan, and providing the latest information on therapies and supports in education, research, and advocacy. Autism Society Tidewater Virginia, is the local affiliate of the oldest and largest Autism-specific member organization, The Autism Society of America.

The ASTV is fiscally and legally a wholly independent affiliate of the Autism Society of America (ASA), sharing the name and brand of the “Autism Society of America” with the national organization and approximately 90 affiliates across the country, along with its mission, values, and strategic priorities.

The ASTV provides direct services and supports for the following cities and counties in Tidewater Virginia:
Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Smithfield, Franklin, Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and the following counties: Middlesex, Gloucester, Mathews, James City, York, Isle of Wight, Surry, Sussex, Emporia/Greenville, Accomack, and Southampton.  However, we provide information and referral and welcome members from all areas of Virginia not currently served by the
